The final addition to the
The Hunger Games
series,
Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games)
, was released this week. When I finished reading this book I was so happy and still sad to be leaving characters I've become attached to behind. The adventure of Katniss and her rebels will be a story that I will cherish. Death, survival, overcoming great sadness and battling against the odds to gain freedom were only a few of the final themes brought to a conclusion in this last chapter to the Hunger Games. Also, Katniss finally makes her choice between Peeta and Gale. There is also so much despair in this final book. A death so tragic you don't anticipate and the depths of depression and betrayal. But closure is absolute.
I challenge my friends who read this blog to pick up a copy of this fabulous book and try not to fall in love.
Happy reading my friends!
I would love to discuss the book with you! Personally there were two characters I was very upset died, and one character I really wanted to suffer a painful death that got off scot free. . .What were your thoughts about her 'choice'?
ReplyDeleteI love these series so much! I hear some people were disappointed with this last book but I thought Suzanne Collins did a fabulous job. Taylor, I feel the same way as you do-sadness that it's over b/c I grew so attached to the characters as well! I hope there are movies made so we can see it come to life more---just hope they do it justice!
ReplyDeleteI finished this last week and I say thanks to you Taylor for introducing me to this wonderful series. I really enjoyed these books. I can tell you I appreciate how she ended this book. I feel like it was really the end. Sometimes they leave things "TOO" open.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comments! I'm so glad people are reading this blog. As for Mockingjay...I love the series so I might be biased. However, there was a lot of disjointedness in the final book. It seemed like there were too many things going. It was like Collins couldn't focus. However, I'm not sure if my opinion is this way because the other two both had Hunger Games and this one didn't and I'm comparing or if it was just the book itself....
ReplyDeleteSpoiler Alert*
Emily - The two deaths that I was really upset about where Prim and Trident Boy (sorry, I read too many books and I can't remember off the top of my head what his name is and that kills me!) What was the death you wanted to see but didn't?
Liz - I hope the first movie is good too. But, I'm not holding my breath...;)
Tracy - I'm so glad you started to read these. It makes me so happy when people read the books I suggest!
